OpenAI continues its efforts to improve the user experience. The long-awaited new feature for ChatGPT users, designed to prevent getting lost in a complex chat history, has finally been released: Pinned Chats.
How to Use the Pinning Feature?
While your AI assistant is quite successful at automatically naming your conversations based on their content, finding old but important dialogues in actively used accounts could become a real quest. Now, that confusion is over.
It’s now very easy to move an important project, a frequently referenced code block, or a favorite creative writing chat to the top of the list:
On the Web Interface: Click the three dots (…) next to the relevant conversation in your chat history on the left and select the “Pin” option.
On the Mobile App (iOS & Android): Press and hold the chat you want to pin and select the pinning action from the menu that appears.
This update is part of OpenAI’s recent “user-centric” strategy. The company; Features like Group Chats, Enhanced Memory, and Custom Instructions aim to transform ChatGPT from a simple question-and-answer tool into a personalized workspace.
Especially for busy users, having the 3-5 most critical chats always visible instead of having to scroll down will save significant time in their daily workflow.
